Promoting Studies in Classical Humanities
Learn about the Education H.E.L.P.S. America Foundation's dedication to establishing professor endowments and student scholarships in the fields of history, economics, literature, and political science.
The American experiment in representative government grew from an effort to establish Liberty and overcome Tyranny. When the Americans began their national efforts in 1776, their attempt to establish Liberty proved a continuation, not a beginning, in a battle that continues infinitum.
The struggle for Liberty against Tyranny often gets overlooked when viewed in the common terminology of conservative versus liberal or on a spectrum of right versus left. The broad stroke use of this terminology and spectrum prohibits true examination into Liberty and Tyranny. Conservative/liberal, right vs left phrasing is insufficient to comprehensively study different societies, as each varies in their culture, customs, and traditions. What a society is working to conserve differs from one to the next, meaning actions taken to liberalize that society will vary too. The right versus left spectrum is inadequate, as each could produce results of repression and anarchy. However, through the lens of Liberty versus Tyranny, scholars can more deeply and fully explain concepts where these other analysis tools fail, and thereby more accurately comprehend the roles Liberty and Tyranny have played on the world.
Liberty can be defined as the freedom to think and speak, while Tyranny suppresses thought and speech. The Education H.E.L.P.S. America Foundation will examine Liberty versus Tyranny in a historical context to determine how each impacts society, in an economic framework to understand how each influences human flourishing, in literary construction to compare writers in freedom and under oppression, and in political science to analyze the role each plays through government.
The Foundation will provide academic scholarships to college students as they study Liberty versus Tyranny through the H.E.L.P.S. framework. The Foundation will also establish endowments for professors to teach the H.E.L.P.S. subjects as a continuing effort to build relationships with college campuses and establish honors colleges. With your support, we will be able to offer these scholarships and endowments for future generations to better understand, and defend, Liberty.
